Scottish Heights - Hash Walk November 20, 2009, Saudi Arabia

Today I went on another Hash walk - but this time I was doing "hare" duty which basically means that you go out before all the walkers and lay the trail for the day. So we walked the long walk (which was quite tricky in some parts) and then the short walk and then I did the short walk again with the walkers when they arrived.
So I imagine tomorrow I may not be able to walk at all!!! But it was great and felt good afterwards.

We are about to walk up this hill and across the top - but it is alot harder than it looks.

Up we go.

Long way down.

Down here and up there.

Up we go.

In the top right part of the picture you can just make out the cars in the distance.

Down in the valley you can make out a face in the rock formation - its quite amazing.

Close up of the face.

Hash trip to the Red Sands

This weeks Hash Harriers walk was to a place called the Red Sands - I was warned that it was quite a hard walk (and they were not wrong) but I wanted to go just to see the Red Sand (you might say "well its just sand" but it really was something else.

Just some interesting rocks on the way

The amazing Red Sands - the color was something else

Now this was the easy walk (which I did) and it was hard - apparently the walkers who did the hard one crawled up on their hands and knees. Its a good workout for sure.

Just amazing

The water stop - water, melon and oranges - well deserved by all

The cheats way up!!!

A local showing off on his motorbike

And some chose to run it!!!!

Beautiful sunset

The sandpit in my shoes after the walk.

And yes there is a cup of tea and cake to be found in the desert.

Dates and Chocolates

Teri and I went shopping for some dates for her mum - there are literally hundreds of date and chocolate shops here - its quite unbelievable. The arrangements that they make are something else.
This particular shop that we went in to had dates of so many varieties/flavors - if you like dates you are in heaven - but for someone like me who hates dates its just yuk.

(if you click on the image it will come up larger and you can see them in more detail)

Date tree arrangement - this costs approx $350 AUD.
